Sirmione’s 2026 PEF Includes TARI Increases Funded by the Tourism Tax

Sirmione has approved its 2026 Economic and Financial Plan (PEF) for municipal waste management, presented on July 29, using part of the tourist tax revenue to limit the impact of Tari increases on residents. The plan aims to cover additional costs linked to the high tourism season while maintaining investments in cleanliness, public space upkeep, and local sustainability.

Under ARERA rules, waste service costs must be fully covered through Tari. The overall increase recorded for 2026 is 8.8% compared with the previous year, but the municipality will not pass the entire rise to households and businesses: the increase is reduced to 6.8% overall, with residential resident households set to rise by 4%, while non-residential users and non-resident households will face a 7.5% increase. The additional resources will fund higher volumes of street cleaning, waste collection, and care for public areas during peak months.

Between May and September, the plan includes higher waste production management, more frequent bin emptying, and targeted interventions in the historic center, on beaches, and along the lakeside promenade, with peak activity in June, July, and August. Measures also cover strengthening the municipal collection center, improving services in the historic center, upgrading bin efficiency, and introducing technological tools, increased safety for workers, and circular-economy projects such as the “Isola del Riuso.”
