Taser in Desenzano: Experimental trial kicks off for Local Police

Desenzano del Garda will begin a six-month pilot of Taser devices by its local police starting in August, using Axon T10 electric impulse weapons under a regulation approved by the city council. The trial will run for six months, with the possibility of becoming permanent if results are positive.

Police officers will be trained to use the devices correctly: the commander, Marco Matteo Mensi, and another officer have been appointed as instructors. Activation will be allowed only after attempts to de-escalate an aggressive person, with exclusions for the chest/heart and genital areas, and the Taser will not be used during TSO (mandatory health treatment). The local force already has 30 firearms and other restraint tools.
