Garda Dive Centers Crackdown: Nine Illegal Facilities Hit With €90,000 in Fines

Italian financial police (Guardia di finanza) have completed checks at dive centers along Lake Garda and other major northern Italian lakes, extending inspections to stretches of the Mincio and the Po in the provinces of Mantua and Cremona. The operation involved 20 facilities, with irregularities found in nine, leading to about €90,000 in administrative fines.

The inspections focused on equipment maintenance, the presence of first-aid devices, business registration, and instructor requirements. Authorities also reported gaps in certifications, insurance coverage, and dive documentation. The checks are part of the implementation of new rules governing recreational underwater activities.
