Fire in Tignale Under Control as Blaze at Forca Area Stabilizes

A wildfire in Tignale, in the Forca area, broke out on Friday evening and was brought under control after more than 13 hours of firefighting. Flames, fueled by dry vegetation, resinous woodland and wind, affected an initial area estimated at around 4,500 square metres of forest.

More than 80 people were deployed on site, including firefighters, civil protection volunteer crews, Forest Carabinieri and teams from nearby municipalities. The response also involved two Canadair aircraft and a helicopter, carrying out water drops from the local lake and nearby pools. Overnight, about 200 residents and tourists were evacuated from nearby homes and accommodation facilities, then allowed to return once the danger eased; cleanup and monitoring are ongoing, while the cause and origin of the blaze are still being investigated.
