Ferragosto 2026 on Lake Garda: visitor numbers hold steady, but spending softens

Tourism on Lake Garda is ramping up ahead of Ferragosto, with hotel occupancy above 73% and room rates ranging from €74 to €1,300, while overall hotel performance remains in line with previous years. In Brescia province, average occupancy is around 65%, with the mountains exceeding 70% and Lake Iseo recording the highest figures in the area. Bed and breakfasts, by contrast, are seeing a slight decline.

However, stronger visitor numbers are not translating into a proportional rise in revenue. Local operators describe a “rarefaction of value” as German and Italian tourists—key drivers of demand—continue to travel but spend less on shopping, dining and other add-on consumption. Extreme heat is also keeping historic town centres emptier during the hottest hours, hitting shops, bars and restaurants; many businesses report turnover drops of more than 20–25%, alongside higher costs for air conditioning and cold-chain supply.
