Swan Incident in Desenzano: One Dead, One Injured on the Waterfront

A swan was killed after being hit by a vehicle on the lakeside in Desenzano, while a second injured swan was found the same morning with a broken leg. The wounded bird was captured and taken to the WWF CRAS in Valpredina for treatment. WWF Bergamo Brescia said the two incidents may be linked, with the animals possibly crossing the road together.

The association attributed the episodes to the growing familiarity of wild animals with people, encouraged by feeding. It said corn given to attract swans can reduce their caution and lead them to move toward roads and frequently used areas, even though the lake already provides sufficient food resources.
