MAG: What’s On From August 10 to 16 With Tours, Games and Exhibitions
The MAG Museo Alto Garda is set to run a week of events in Riva del Garda from August 10 to 16, featuring guided tours, pop-culture festivals and exhibitions on local history and the image of Lake Garda. The full programme is available on the museum’s website.
On Wednesday, August 12 at 10:30, MAG staff will lead a guided visit to the exhibition “Visitate il Garda. Grafica e promozione dalla Belle Époque al turismo moderno,” tracing how the lake was marketed to travellers through posters, postcards, brochures and film before becoming a direct destination. The route covers more than a century of tourism communication—from the Belle Époque “Mediterraneo delle Alpi” framing to the 1930s, when the Gardesana road and the influence of Futurism shaped travel imagery. The tour includes access to the exhibition, is included in the ticket price and requires no booking.
From August 14 to 16, the Rocca di Riva del Garda hosts the second edition of the Riva Game Festival, with video games, board and role-playing games, collectible cards, comics, illustration, cosplay and DJ sets; MAG activities run from 11:00 to 18:00. Scheduled highlights include tournaments, exhibitions, a comic scriptwriting masterclass with Alessandro Sisti on August 15 (14:30–19:00) and an author talk at the Civic Library on August 16 at 11:00, followed by a cosplay contest and the “Movie Night: Japan Fantasy” concert by the Riva del Garda band at 21:00. Ticket prices are €15 for adults and €10 for reduced tickets for minors. Meanwhile, at Forte Garda, “Dal fucile alla matita” is free until October 11, and “I forti si raccontano” returns on August 16 from 10:00 to 13:00; “Baricentri. Identità urbane dei quartieri 2 Giugno e Degasperi” continues as a photo exhibition on memory and everyday places in two Riva del Garda neighbourhoods.
