Hotel Shut in Desenzano Over Hygiene Lapses and Safety Violations

A hotel in Desenzano del Garda has been shut down following an inter-agency inspection carried out over the past few days after a complaint. Officers from the Public Security Commissariat, the Guardia di Finanza, ATS Garda and the Fire Brigade found beds exceeding the number authorized and guests whose personal details had not been reported to the Questore within the required deadlines.

The inspection also highlighted significant structural and hygiene-sanitary shortcomings, along with general neglect of maintenance. The fire detection and alarm system was not working, and checks on fire extinguishers and the internal hydrant network had not been carried out. As a result, the Municipality of Desenzano del Garda ordered the immediate suspension of the hotel’s accommodation activity, along with the administrative penalties provided for by law.

The Guardia di Finanza is now completing checks on cash receipts, POS card use and the issuance of payment records. Further inspections of accommodation facilities are expected to continue in the coming weeks.
