Sirmione Port: Sunken Boat Recovered, Spill Cleaned Up

The port of Sirmione has reopened to normal navigation after cleanup operations were completed on the morning of August 19 at Sirmione 2, where a boat sank overnight and caused an oil spill in the marina basin. Firefighters recovered and secured the vessel, while Civil Protection staff checked containment measures and finished removing the fuel.

To prevent further spread into the lake, the entry and exit channel was closed and isolated with anti-pollution barriers. By 2:00 p.m., operations were concluded: the cleanup was completed and the barriers were removed at the basin entrance, restoring full port operations. The response involved the Fire Brigade’s scuba unit from Milan, on-site personnel from the Brescia command, and a technical officer.
