Arco Hospital Unveils Relaunch Plan With New Facilities and Expanded Emergency Room

The Arco Hospital has been included in a shared development plan approved on September 2, 2026 by provincial health councillor Mario Tonina, the president of the Alto Garda and Ledro Community Giuliano Marocchi, and local mayors. The programme aims to strengthen the hospital’s role within the Trentino healthcare network by adding new spaces, improving integration with local services, and consolidating medical specialisations, also to cope with demand peaks linked to the area’s tourism. Planned measures include an expanded emergency department, a reorganisation of dialysis services, new facilities for women’s and couples’ health, and additional technological equipment.

The first phase of works is already underway, funded with €9.8 million. It includes the reconstruction of pavilion A (already demolished) and seismic improvements to pavilion B, with structural testing expected by 2026. Dialysis is set to move into about 800 square metres of new space, followed by an expansion of the emergency department, with completion targeted for spring 2028. In the medium term, the project will be updated to add roughly 4,000 square metres, mainly for administrative functions, to free up space for hospital and outpatient activities.
