Desenzano: Unpaid Fines Top €2 Million
In Desenzano, the municipality has awarded Sorit the task of collecting more than €2 million in unpaid fines issued by the local police between 2022 and 2024. The case involves over 3,000 sanctions, including speeding violations, phone use while driving, failure to wear seat belts, and parking in spaces reserved for people with disabilities.
The amounts to be recovered—together with legally required fees and surcharges—can increase by up to 50% and may lead to wage or bank account garnishment. Specifically, the sums are €340,000 for 2022, over €1 million for 2023, and about €600,000 for 2024; under the rules, 50% of the collected money must be used for road signage, safety, and enforcement and inspection activities.
