From 19 to 27 September, Bagolino will mark the centenary of the coronation of the revered Madonna di San Luca, which took place in 1926. The anniversary turns the traditional Feste quinquennali into a major community event, with nine days of celebrations featuring meetings and shared moments.
The celebrations begin on Saturday 19 September at 18:30 with a solemn Mass presided over by Mons. Pierantonio Tremolada, Bishop of Brescia. This will be followed by the unveiling of the Sacra Icona, one of the most eagerly awaited highlights. The significance of the anniversary will be underlined by the presence of three bishops from different dioceses: besides Tremolada, Mons. Lauro Tisi, Archbishop of Trento, and Mons. Ovidio Vezzoli, Bishop of Fidenza.
The programme includes Masses and community events for different groups. On Sunday 20 September, there will be the Mass of the Famia Bagossa, a concelebration by native priests of Bagolino, and a Marian concert with choirs and youth choirs. On Tuesday 22 September, dedicated to Mater Sacerdotum, the morning celebration will be presided over by the vicar general Mons. Angelo Gelmini, followed at 20:30 by the Mass of the Archbishop of Trento. On Thursday 24 September, the Via Matris procession will take place through the streets of the town, while on Saturday 26 September there will be a Mass for spouses, the consecration of families to the Madonna, and a night vigil at the Icona.
The closing Mass will be held on Sunday 27 September, presided over by the Bishop of Fidenza, followed by a large procession with the Sacra Icona through the streets of Bagolino with the Praso band. The route will pass via Parrocchia, via Casale, via San Giorgio, piazza Marconi, via San Rocco, the church of San Rocco, and via Madonna di San Luca, ending in the parish church. Alongside the religious programme, the church of San Lorenzo will host an art exhibition on the Madonna, with works from Alta Valle Sabbia, and during the festivities the volume L’icona della Madonna di San Luca. Storia, arte, fede a Bagolino nel centenario dell’incoronazione (1926–2026), edited by Maria Paola Pasini and Flavio Richiedei and published by Grafo, will be available.
