IN BRIEF

18 Small Bats Released Back Into the Wild at Parco Natura Viva

At Parco Natura Viva in Bardolino, 18 small bats were recovered while still clinging to their mother’s belly, who was already dead. The discovery was made during the park’s traditional event dedicated to the conservation of these mammals, held among the 4,000 trees in the zoo.

After treatment by volunteers, the rehabilitation process lasted throughout the summer. It began with continuing nursing, then moved from liquid feeding to solid food, and finally included training for flight and hunting. The bats are now expected to find a comfortable refuge among the oaks, hornbeams and hop-hornbeams as autumn approaches.
