Calmasino is preparing to celebrate the Antica Fiera di San Michele with a weekend of events focused on local traditions, popular culture and the shared memory of the hamlet. The festival will take place Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September 2026, bringing together remembrance, entertainment and opportunities for socialising.
On Saturday, the programme begins with a guided tour of Calmasino’s historic courtyards, followed by the opening of the kitchens serving specialities from local tradition, including Pink apple risotto with speck and Monte Veronese, risotto al tastasal, stewed meat with polenta, tripe and typical regional desserts. The evening continues with music, a DJ set, itinerant stilt-walkers and a fire-eating show in the courtyard next to the church. Ahead of the fair, Friday 25 September from 19:00 features the “Fuori Fiera” evening with open kitchen and a Latin-American night in Piazza San Michele with a DJ and a dance school.
Sunday is dedicated to community and tradition. In the morning there will be a programme of bell-ringing traditions, including an introductory lesson and a concert by the Calmasino-Cisano-Bardolino bell team, followed by the Santa Messa del Patrono and a parade of tractors. In the afternoon, organisers have scheduled a traditional lunch, folk songs, wooden games, activities for children, and competitions including draughts and table tennis with Paralympic champion Michela Brunelli. The evening will close with the astronomy observation “Girovagando tra mondo e stelle” on the church forecourt. The event is organised by the Associazione di Promozione Sociale e Culturale Calmasin nel Cor A.P.S., with the patronage of the Municipality of Bardolino; for information and bookings, contact asscalmasino@gmail.com or call 380 3729146.
