Citizens in Arco have been warned to watch out for fraudulent messages received by SMS that pretend to come from Asuit. The Municipality of Arco says the agency is completely unrelated to the sending of these messages and adds that it does not use phone numbers with the 89 prefix for communications to residents.
According to the warning, scam SMS messages may include requests for sensitive information, suspicious links, or instructions to call the numbers provided. Authorities advise residents to not reply, not call any number listed in the text, not open any links it contains, and above all not to share personal details, tax identification information (codice fiscale), or banking information.
Anyone who receives a suspicious SMS is urged to delete the message immediately and report it to the law enforcement authorities. The report helps the competent agencies trace and block the numbers used by the scammers.
