From 15 September, Atletica Lonato Young has resumed athletics training for children and young people in Lonato del Garda, using sports facilities made available by the local council. The restart for the long-established local club was defined following a meeting between the Avigo brothers, Mayor Nicola Bianchi and the Sport Councillor Giuseppe Borgese.
The meeting focused on the club’s needs and on identifying the conditions needed to bring athletics back among the sporting opportunities available to young people in Lonato. The municipality highlighted the role of the Sport department as a reference point for local sports organisations and as a link between associations and the administration, with the mayor and councillor describing the relaunch as an important result for the community and for the return of athletics training for local children and teenagers.
Atletica Lonato Young, founded by Avigo Andrea in 1978, added the word “Young” to its name to underline its focus on the new generation. The club said continuity is supported by the municipal administration and by technical and financial backing from Atletica Leonessa, while presenting athletics as a tool for well-being, social life and education.
