The Festival della Montagna a Toscolano Maderno opens today, Wednesday 23 September 2026, for its fourth edition, running for five days until Sunday 27 September. The programme combines evening talks featuring guests from mountain regions, nature-focused guided hikes in the hinterland of Alto Garda Bresciano, and outdoor activities in and around Toscolano Maderno.
The event is promoted by the Municipality of Toscolano Maderno, in collaboration with Mu.Re. (Museo Recuperanti 1915-1918 Alto Garda Bresciano) and various local associations. Most educational appointments take place at the Auditorium Cavandoli in via Religione, alongside guided itineraries including the Valle delle Cartiere and mountain slopes within the Parco Alto Garda Bresciano.
The evening schedule starts on 23 September at 20:45 with an event on Alpine historical memory, focused on a walking re-enactment of the Russian retreat led by the Alpini of the Battaglione Morbegno. On 24 September, Emer Bavelloni presents a report from the remote Spiti Valley, while on 25 September the final talk in the hall looks at high-altitude forestry work and traditional carpentry, featuring the protagonist of the DMAX series Falegname d'alta quota. On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, activities move outdoors with guided walks along the naturalistic trail in the Valle delle Cartiere, orienteering routes for families, and evening moon-sky observation sessions; new for 2026 are demonstrations of local timber cutting and skidding, plus an adventure park with aerial walkways and a free-jump point. The closing day on 27 September includes the Vertical Experience, an assisted climbing test along the stone wall of the bell tower at the Oratory in Toscolano, supervised by qualified mountain guides.
