On Monday, October 5, construction work will begin on the utility networks beneath the Historic Sarca Bridge in Arco. This technical phase is essential to prepare the infrastructure for its final configuration and is expected to last approximately one month. The work area will impact the cycle and pedestrian path between the bridge parking lot and the intersection with Via della Cinta and Via Segantini.
The project involves multiple network operators, including the aqueduct, the gas network (AGS), medium voltage electricity (SET), and telecommunications (Fibercop). The municipality has coordinated a joint excavation plan to prevent reopening the same area multiple times.
Traffic and Cycle Path Changes
During the construction month, bicycles will be diverted onto the main roadway, while pedestrian access will be maintained alongside the construction site. For safety reasons, specific phases, especially those involving the gas network, will require temporary transit bans.
Car traffic will also face adjustments. The traffic light system will temporarily switch from three to four phases to safely manage the new flow. The additional phase will regulate vehicles exiting from Prabi, separating them from southbound traffic on Via della Cinta, which could increase waiting times during peak hours.
As stated by Marco Piantoni, Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Mobility, this crucial phase targets the underground infrastructure that will serve the bridge for decades. Citizens and tourists are advised to follow the temporary signage and drive with caution due to bicycles sharing the road.
