Toscolano Maderno is keeping its tourist services running into the autumn. The local administration has extended the Tourist Information Office until 1 November, keeping the main information points open for visitors and residents after the summer season. October also brings two walks for families with the Valle delle Cartiere Ecomuseum.
Opening hours until 1 November
The Villa Romana stays open at weekends until 1 November. Hours: Friday 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm; Saturday, Sunday and Monday 10 am to 1 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
The Maderno Information Office, opposite the Hotel Milano and next to the Navigarda ticket office, is open Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, and Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm.
Autumn walks for children aged 5 to 11
Sunday 11 October: a stage-by-stage walk through the Valle delle Cartiere (Paper Mill Valley) with riddles and playful activities exploring local flora and fauna, in particular carnivorous plants and the old paper mills, a heritage that tells of centuries of production and local life. Meeting point: in front of the Museo della Carta (Paper Museum).
Saturday 31 October, from 3:00 pm: the walk “Animali fantastici e dove trovarli” (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) leads participants among the monuments of Maderno’s old town, searching for hidden details and traces in the lanes of the village. Meeting point: Piazza San Marco.
