On Thursday 5 November, traffic around Lake Garda is affected by closures in town centres and roadworks in many places, from the lakeshore to the hills. The longest restriction is in Desenzano del Garda, where Piazza Cappelletti is closed to traffic and parking for the Christmas Markets until 11 January.
Town centres and lakefront
In Desenzano, the ban on driving and parking, with towing of vehicles, covers the whole of Piazza Cappelletti from 5 November to 11 January. Three spaces remain between the fountain and Lungolago Battisti: two for people with disabilities and one 30-minute disc-parking space for loading and unloading.
On Lungolago Battisti, between Via Desenzanino and Via Malaguti, and on Via Minelli, alternating one-way traffic controlled by traffic marshals or a traffic light is in force from 2 to 13 November, 07:00 to 18:00, with a 30 km/h limit because of pavement works.
In Moniga del Garda, Via del Porto is closed to traffic and parking from 08:00 on 3 November until 18:00 on Thursday 5 November.
In Toscolano Maderno, the lakeside promenade Beato José Maria Escrivà, in front of the small harbour, stays closed until 6 November. On Saturdays, Sundays and the days before holidays it will reopen to pedestrians and cyclists.
In Sirmione, in Piazzale Montebaldo, alternating one-way traffic applies from 2 to 13 November, 08:00 to 18:00 on working days, at the northern entrance and exit of the staff car park. Parking is banned in the excavation areas for an underground power line, from the motorcycle spaces to the bus bays.
Roadworks in the towns
In Lonato del Garda, alternating one-way traffic with a parking ban applies on Via Sirmione, Via Benaco and Via Sant’Anna from 5 to 10 November, and traffic stops where work crosses the carriageway. The same measure is in force on Via Industria and Via Aldo Moro from 26 October to 13 November, and on Via Fenil Nuovo Molini until 16 November. On Via Bottino Basso, between Via Castel Venzago and number 4, traffic and parking are banned from 5 November to 5 December, except for residents and the contractor, while the electricity network is laid.
In Desenzano, on Via Marconi at the junction with Via Mezzocolle, alternating one-way traffic with marshals, a narrowed carriageway and a 30 km/h limit apply from 5 to 13 November, 08:30 to 17:00. On Via D’Alighieri and Via Brescia, driving is banned for everyone except residents from 3 to 6 November while power cables are installed.
In Torri del Benaco, on the road to Albisano near number 140, alternating one-way traffic is managed by two marshals from 2 to 6 November, 08:00 to 18:00, while telephone poles are replaced. The road is not closed completely.
In Castelnuovo del Garda, on Via Mantovana in front of numbers 51 and 53, alternating one-way traffic with a traffic light or marshals applies until 5 November, 08:00 to 18:00, for a water pipe repair.
In Bardolino, Via Galvani, near number 12, is closed from 2 to 6 November for a water main repair.
In Salò, on Via Brunati, number 35, alternating one-way traffic with marshals applies on 5 and 6 November, 08:30 to 17:00.
In Lazise, alternating one-way traffic and a parking ban apply from 07:30 to 18:00, excluding holidays, on Via Confine, Via Venezia, Vicolo Confine, Via del Burlin and Via Derna. They last until 6 November or until the fibre-optic trench is finished.
In Affi, on Via Villabella, in the stretch that is already one-way, driving is banned from 2 to 20 November, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, because of roadworks.
In Arco, on Via Linfano near number 37, driving is banned from 5 November to 4 December. On Via Cantina, alternating one-way traffic applies because of roadworks.
In Tignale, Via Roma is closed to traffic on Thursday 5 November for roadworks.
In Toscolano Maderno, on Via Vigole, parking is banned from number 5 to number 10, and alternating one-way traffic applies at number 78, from 08:30 on 5 November to 17:30 on 10 November, for excavation and cable laying.
In Valeggio sul Mincio, on two days between 26 October and 6 November, 08:30 to 18:00 and subject to prior notice to the town hall, Vicolo Piave is closed to traffic except for residents, and parking is banned on Via Circonvallazione Scipione Maffei. Via Scipione Maffei also has a ban on vehicles over 3.5 tonnes.
Festivals and events
In Albisano, a village in the municipality of Torri del Benaco, the car park on Via San Zeno, in front of the cemetery, is closed with towing of vehicles from 4 to 18 November for the San Martino festival. The organisers may enter and park in the area.
