Two guitarists, one album

Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have known each other since 1973, when Vai began taking lessons from Satriani. Their paths have crossed many times, including on the G3 tours, until they decided to make a project together. Vai says: “We had been planning it since 1973. We just did it unconsciously.”

The project was originally meant to produce a single track, but it grew into a ten-track album. Satriani explains that the two write music in very different ways, and that this is exactly what made the work fun and interesting. The album, produced with keyboardist Eric Caudieux, features leading drummers and bass players. The closing track opens with a recording of one of Satriani’s first lessons to Vai.

The Vittoriale Festival

The festival is organised by Ripens’arti, with artistic direction by Viola Costa and production by Rita Costa. The 2026 edition drew 27,016 spectators and 11 sold-out concerts, with tickets bought in all 20 Italian regions, in 108 provinces and in 54 countries around the world.

Over its history the festival has brought to the Vittoriale stage artists such as Keith Jarrett, Lou Reed, Ben Harper, Morrissey, Jeff Beck, Norah Jones and Paolo Conte.
