A serious traffic accident occurred in Bedizzole on November 15, when a 61-year-old driver struck and killed a 29-year-old pedestrian, Gaston Nicolas Pascale Urgoiti, originally from Uruguay. The man, who was walking along a poorly lit road, was hit while the driver was returning home after drinking. Despite the incident, the 61-year-old did not stop to provide assistance and left the scene. It was only later that he asked his son to return to the site to check if anything had happened.
The driver was arrested under a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge, following the discovery that he had a blood alcohol level three times over the legal limit. The victim, who had been living in the area since 2017, passed away after a day in intensive care at the Civil Hospital of Brescia. This tragic event has raised concerns about the safety of the area, highlighting the need for improvements in lighting and pedestrian infrastructure.
