The black Volvo gang caused panic on the streets of Valtenesi on New Year’s Eve when two suspected criminals were pursued by local police. The incident took place in Piazza Martino, where the fugitives abandoned their vehicle, a black Volvo V40 already reported for thefts in the area, due to ongoing roadworks. After a long chase that began on Provincial Road 572 between Manerba and Moniga, the two men found themselves blocked by construction machinery and barriers, forcing them to flee on foot among the festive crowd.
Despite the officers’ attempts to apprehend them on foot with the assistance of the carabinieri from the Salò Mobile Unit, one of the fugitives struck an officer before disappearing down Via Caccinelli. The vehicle was seized and inspected, but no significant evidence was found inside. Authorities have launched an investigation for resistance and are pursuing specific leads to identify the two criminals still at large.
