In the **Valle delle Cartiere**, located in Toscolano Maderno, a controversy is unfolding regarding the **paving of the road** leading to the Paper Museum. Traditionally known as a “white road,” this route has undergone a significant transformation, sparking discussions between the municipal administration and the minority council group “Fare Comune.” The municipality justifies the intervention by highlighting the need to ensure the **safety** and **accessibility** of the road, which had become difficult to navigate after years of neglect. The administration claims that the new material used, a natural gravel aggregate free of bitumen, was chosen to preserve the rural charm of the area.

On the other side, “Fare Comune” criticizes the operation, labeling it an example of poor environmental awareness. Councilor Ermanno Benedetti questions the appropriateness of the paving within the context of the Valley, fearing that it may encourage increased car access. They propose alternatives such as restoring the old stone slabs to facilitate the passage of larger vehicles and suggest that priorities should include safety and securing slopes prone to landslides.
