The operation “Prostitution” has led to the dismantling of a criminal organization active in the Upper Garda region, responsible for the exploitation of prostitution involving young women. The Carabinieri of Arco conducted the intervention, resulting in the arrest of two foreign nationals accused of exploitation, while another seven were reported at large. The organization generated revenues of up to 300,000 euros per month by recruiting 15 girls, aged between 22 and 31, who were accommodated in lodging facilities in the surrounding provinces.
The investigations, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rovereto, revealed that the group published daily online ads to offer the girls to clients and swiftly divide the illicit proceeds. Furthermore, the affiliates reinvested their earnings in luxury goods such as apartments and expensive cars. Several managers of lodging facilities were also reported for aiding and abetting, as well as for failing to inform the authorities about the presence of the girls. Following the arrests, the two men were transferred to prisons in Trento and Padua.
