At the International Tourism Exchange (BIT 2025), a panel dedicated to lake tourism was held, featuring regional councilor Barbara Mazzali and Pietro Marrapodi, representative of the Lake Navigation Management. During the meeting, which took place this morning in the events area of the Lombardy Region, the authorities discussed the importance of enhancing lakes as significant national and international tourist destinations. Marrapodi emphasized the need to destagionalize tourist flows and promote lesser-known locations, encouraging the use of public transport for more sustainable mobility.
Barbara Mazzali highlighted how the Lombardy lakes represent a “great pride” for the region, attracting visitors from around the world through experiential and slow tourism. Undersecretary Alessandro Morelli announced that in 2024, the transport of over 12 million travelers across the lakes is expected, thus confirming their crucial role in the local economy. With a 6.5% increase in visitor numbers compared to the previous year, lake tourism is establishing itself as a fundamental sector for the national GDP and for the economic and social development of local communities.
