The high-speed station for Lake Garda has seen a surge in railway construction costs, with the projected expenses now exceeding 200 million euros, tripling the initial estimates from 2021. According to the OtiNord report, the progress of the new high-speed line from Brescia Est to Verona has surpassed 85%, approaching the deadline of December 2026, in line with the objectives of the PNRR. However, the quadrupling of the line exiting Brescia is still in the final design phase, pushing back the possibility of completion by 2028.

The overall budget for the Brescia Est-Verona stretch is now set at 3.1 billion euros, fully funded through contributions from the PNRR and other public sources. The feasibility study for the new station at San Martino, which will serve both high-speed and traditional lines, has been completed. This development is a crucial part of the second phase of the new AV/AC Milan-Verona railway line, considered strategic for efficient connections in the region.
