Riva del Garda: Fake Police Officer Attempts Multiple Phone Scams, All Fail On the morning of yesterday, Tuesday, March 25, there were three attempts at phone scams in the area of Riva del Garda, all fortunately unsuccessful. Several citizens contacted the Carabinieri’s Operations Center to report a supposed police officer who was reaching out to them in an attempt to carry out the scam. The impersonator informed the victims that the license plate of their car had been cloned and used in a robbery, urging them to go to the Command in Trento to resolve non-existent legal issues.
Thanks to a recent awareness campaign launched by law enforcement against scams, none of the citizens fell for the ruse. All promptly ended the conversation and subsequently alerted the Carabinieri about the attempts they had experienced, thereby helping to keep awareness high regarding these deceptive practices in the area.
