Starting in April, Salò is launching the Social Pantry, an initiative designed to provide food assistance to citizens in need. This project is the result of collaboration between the Salò Zonal Caritas and the Municipal Administration, with support from the associations Maremosso, Cauto, and Garda Sociale. The Social Pantry aims to distribute food items that are close to their expiration date or have minor defects but are still edible and not marketable. A group of volunteers will collect surplus food from local supermarkets to distribute it every two weeks to those in need, thereby helping to combat food waste.
The service is open to all citizens requiring support; to access it, individuals are asked to contact the Municipal Social Services Office by the 5th of each month. Food deliveries occur every 15 days, on Saturday mornings at the Caritas headquarters located at Via Canottieri 2. For further details, please contact the Social Services Office at 0365/296877.
