An important initiative for the establishment of the Hospital of Peace in Medjugorje is taking shape, thanks to the Brescia contribution, which is crucial for the project launched in 2021 by the charity association Olimpiadi del cuore onlus, founded by Paolo Brosio and presided over by lawyer Piergiorgio Merlo. The inauguration is expected by the end of 2025, with the support of Pope Francis, who has approved the initiative. Last Friday, at the Bottenago cellars in Polpenazze, numerous Brescia entrepreneurs participated in a fundraising event organized by Viviana and Giuseppe Pasini, along with other local supporters.
Currently, the hospital is under construction and represents a continuation of previous projects dedicated to orphans and the elderly. Paolo Brosio emphasized the importance of the evening in raising the necessary funds: 600,000 euros have already been spent, and a similar investment is expected to complete the construction work. Once finished, the facility will provide healthcare services to over 120,000 residents in the area, without distinctions of ethnicity or religion. Petar Ljubicic, the former head of the Medjugorje parish, also attended the event, while the Bishop of Assisi, Domenico Sorrentino, visited the gathering.
