In Trentino, an information campaign is underway, promoted by the Province and Trentino Marketing, to ensure safe hiking in an area where the presence of the brown bear is becoming increasingly common. Informational signs have been installed at strategic points in wooded areas, aimed at educating hikers about the behaviors to adopt during their walks. Among the advice provided, the importance of making noise while walking, keeping dogs on a leash, and not leaving litter in the woods is emphasized, in order to avoid unwanted encounters with these animals.
However, the initiative has sparked mixed opinions: some local operators believe that the new signs may instill fear among tourists rather than provide useful information. According to these critical voices, the alarming message could undermine the hiking experience. Despite the concerns raised, the Province reiterates that the safety of visitors and coexistence with wildlife must remain a priority in the context of outdoor activities in the region.
