Regional Bill No. 63 – Hull and Engine Sanitization Presented
On Wednesday, March 27, a press conference was held at the headquarters of the Comunità del Garda, by Regional Councilor Floriano Massardi and Vice President Filippo Gavazzoni to present Regional Bill No. 63 – Hull and Engine Sanitization. This project represents a first concrete action towards the containment of alien species with invasive characteristics in Lake Garda.
The project stems from the Lake Agreement, signed in Peschiera del Garda in 2019, which aims to provide Lake Garda with awareness and planning based on scientific data, along with measures and laws to protect the environment. The sanitization of boat hulls and engines is a fundamental step in preserving the lake’s habitat and ecosystem.
The positive impact of this measure will not only involve safeguarding the environment, but will also have a significant impact on the promotion of tourism in the area and the spread of the “Water Culture.”
The Lombardy Region is thus aligning itself with the work already carried out by the Veneto Region thanks to the commitment of Regional Councilor Enrico Corsi. A date will soon be set with the Autonomous Province of Trento to define this interregional regulation, which represents a crucial and vital step for the future of Lake Garda.
