A catamaran capsized on the afternoon of Thursday the 17th due to strong winds while it was approximately 200 meters off the coast of Limone sul Garda. Two German tourists were on board: one ended up in the water, while the other clung to the overturned hull. The alarm was raised via the European emergency number 112, following the sighting of three red flares by a passerby. The Coast Guard responded immediately, coordinating the rescue by deploying both the SAR unit from Salò and the Police Motorboat.
Thanks to the prompt intervention of the rescue forces, the two individuals were safely retrieved. The police righted the catamaran and transferred both boaters onto the motorboat, subsequently escorting them to the port of Limone sul Garda, where they arrived around 3:10 PM. Authorities emphasized the importance of checking weather alerts before engaging in nautical activities and recommended always carrying a smartphone to request assistance in case of emergencies.
