The documentary film “La Guerra d’Italia a 3000 metri sull’Adamello,” directed by Milanese filmmaker Luca Comerio in 1916, will be screened on Wednesday, April 30, at 9 PM at the Supercinema Vittoria in Trento. This restored edition of the film, which follows the Alpine troops during World War I, has been curated by a team of experts from the University of Udine and the Superintendency for Cultural Heritage and Activities of the Autonomous Province of Trento. The event is part of the programming for the Trento Film Festival 2025, coinciding with International Jazz Day, and will feature live musical accompaniment.
The restoration involved meticulous philological reconstruction and has brought to light significant scenes from the lives of the Alpine soldiers in the field, including the transport of cannons and preparations for military actions. This project is part of a broader initiative dedicated to the recovery of documentary films about the Great War, supported by various Italian institutions. The screening thus provides an opportunity to relive an important piece of Italian history through a new visual and auditory interpretation.
