The project for the Lake Garda Cycle Path has made significant progress with the approval of the latest segment in Trentino on the western shore, announced on Tuesday, April 29, during a site visit in Riva del Garda. The Functional Unit 2 (UF2), which connects the Sperone Beach to the mouth of the Ponale River, has received the green light from the Conference of Services of the Autonomous Province of Trento. The province’s president, who was present at the meeting with Infrastructure Minister Matteo Salvini and other local authorities, emphasized the strategic importance of the project for cycling tourism and the enhancement of the area.
With this approval, the project can move forward to the detailed design and contracting for the new section of the cycle path, which will follow the route of the old SS45bis road. The construction will include both natural and artificial tunnels within a completely protected and environmentally respectful context. The first completed section required a provincial investment of 11.2 million euros, primarily involving Trentino-based companies.
