A 90-year-old man, residing in Goito, was saved thanks to the swift intervention of rescuers after he attempted to take his own life by drinking bleach. The emergency occurred in the heart of the night between Sunday, May 4, and Monday, May 5, when a family member contacted 118 for assistance. The rescuers arrived promptly at the scene, and after providing the necessary first aid, transported the elderly man to the Carlo Poma Hospital in Mantova in yellow code. Although his condition is serious, he is not in life-threatening danger.
Investigations conducted by the carabinieri revealed that the man’s desperate act may have been driven by fatigue related to the health issues he was facing, which also affected the lives of his loved ones. This incident highlights a critical situation concerning the health emergency and the well-being of the elderly in the local community.
