A severe storm struck Sirmione, particularly the Colombare district, on the evening of Monday, May 12, causing significant flooding and disruptions. Around 7:30 PM, a hailstorm was followed by heavy rain that severely tested the area’s drainage system. The ditches, especially on via Todeschino and via XX Settembre, overflowed, resulting in flooding that reached 20 centimeters of water on sidewalks and roads, also invading residential garages.
The situation created traffic problems: one car veered off the road without serious consequences, and a boy on a bicycle was rescued by residents after being swept into a ditch by the current. Rescue operations continued for hours with the aim of clearing the flooded streets and assisting affected families. Currently, the emergency response efforts remain active to ensure safety in the areas impacted by the storm.
