The new stretch of the Cesare Battisti lakeside promenade was inaugurated yesterday, Thursday, May 15, in Desenzano del Garda, during an event that saw the participation of numerous citizens and local and regional authorities. This segment of the walkway, which extends from Via Rive to Via Gramsci, marks a significant milestone in the urban redevelopment project for the area. With a total investment of €3,685,000, supported by the Lombardy Region and the Municipality of Desenzano, the lakeside promenade stands out as a strategic infrastructure characterized by a structure suspended over the water, green spaces, and cycling paths.
The project not only enhances the aesthetics and usability of the area but also serves as an important meeting point for residents and tourists alike. The monumental sculpture “Dentro le vele,” created by local artist Walter Xausa, further enriches the urban landscape with artistic elements that evoke the identity of Lake Garda. Mayor Guido Malinverno emphasized the importance of the lakeside promenade as a “calling card” for Desenzano, while regional councilor Claudia Maria Terzi highlighted the value of this work in making Lombardy’s lakes even more attractive.
