A fire has severely damaged Villa Albertini in Pozzolengo, leading to its declaration as uninhabitable. The incident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, May 13, affecting the upper floor and part of the wooden roof, as well as the rooms below. Mayor Alex Franzoni has issued an ordinance requiring comprehensive structural assessments and restoration work to ensure the building’s safety. Residents of the affected nursing home have been relocated to temporary facilities in Colombare di Sirmione and Peschiera.
Investigations conducted by the Fire Brigade revealed that the property has sustained damage severe enough to compromise its load-bearing structure, necessitating an urgent assessment to determine its structural integrity. Currently, Villa Albertini is considered at risk of collapse, which justifies the measures taken by the municipality to protect public safety and ensure compliance with existing regulations.
