Recent reports regarding a supposed sighting of a bear with cubs in Toscolano Maderno have been refuted by the Provincial Police. After receiving notifications, officers conducted searches in the area and interviewed the individual who reported the sighting. This person admitted to not having clearly seen the animal, only catching a distant glimpse of an indistinct figure accompanied by two other animals in the grass, mistakenly speculating that it was a bear.
The Police confirmed that their investigations found no evidence of bears, but rather signs left by wild boars, and emphasized the unlikelihood of a female bear with cubs being present in that area. In fact, the most recent births have been recorded in the Giudicarie Valleys. Since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Police have received 20 reports of bear sightings in the mountainous areas of Brescia, but no indication of the presence of these animals in Toscolano Maderno.
