Checks in Lonato: fine for illegal gambling and minors

Checks on illegal gambling and underage betting: €8,000 fine in Lonato. Recently, officers from the Police Headquarters conducted inspections at a betting establishment in Lonato to combat illegal gambling and protect minors. During the checks, a boy under the age of 18 was found placing bets on virtual football events. Additionally, the employee was not in possession of the required training certificate to address the risks associated with gambling addiction. These violations resulted in the issuance of two fines: one of €6,666.67 for allowing access to a minor, and a second of €1,666.67 for deficiencies in training.

The reports of the violations will be forwarded to the Customs and Monopolies Agency, which may impose further penalties, including the suspension of the betting establishment’s operations. Police Chief Paolo Sartori emphasized that the fight against illegal gambling and the access of minors to betting venues is a priority, as gambling addiction poses an increasing risk to young individuals vulnerable to dangerous forms of dependency.
