In Trentino, the abandonment of waste is an increasing problem that incurs significant costs for the community and necessitates environmental remediation efforts. Between 2024 and the early months of 2025, the Trentino Forestry Corps intensified its operations against this phenomenon, uncovering 75 criminal violations with a total value exceeding 337,000 euros. The administrative fines issued amount to 80, with varying amounts depending on the municipalities and the specific infractions. Among the most common violations are illegal waste disposal and unauthorized discharges, with particular attention given to vulnerable natural areas.
The activities of the Forestry Corps continue into 2025, with additional inspections leading to 32 new criminal investigations, 12 of which involve businesses. The total value of the fines has surpassed 110,000 euros, but it is important to note that the actual number of abandonments is likely higher than what has been formally contested. This results in an economic burden for the Public Administration and underscores the importance of ongoing actions in the fight against waste abandonment to ensure the protection of the environment and the health of the community.
