Gavardo has a historic tradition in printing and publishing, with young individuals, even in modern times, traveling to Venice to learn the art of typography, becoming some of the most important printers in Italy. This cultural vocation has remained vibrant over time, solidifying in the 20th century thanks to the cooperative movement, culminating in 1999 with the founding of Liberedizioni, a publishing cooperative that has been promoting books as tools for growth and knowledge for over 25 years.

In this context, the “A Bridge of Books” Editorial Review was born, now in its third edition, which will take place from May 1 to 4, 2025 at the Palafiera Ziglioli in Gavardo, as part of the 67th Festa di Maggio. This event stands out in the local landscape for its commitment to connecting culture, tradition, and innovation through books, which serve as true bridges between generations and territories.

A significant event for Italian publishing

The Review will welcome over twenty publishing houses from various Italian cities, including Bergamo, Bolzano, Como, Crema, Florence, Lodi, Milan, Modena, Naples, Rome, Turin, Trento, and of course, Brescia and its province. This will be a mix of publishing realities, some cooperative in nature, offering a wide range of publications that will stimulate discussion and the discovery of new literary perspectives.

Great attention will be given to young readers, with three main initiatives:

• May 1 at 10:30 AM – Opening of the exhibition A Bridge of Books, created by students from the third grades of the Lower Secondary School, which will be open for the entire duration of the event.

• May 2 at 4:00 PM – Awarding of the Literary Competition dedicated to fifth-grade students from Primary Schools.

• From May 1 to 4 – Students from the Liceo Fermi in Salò and the Perlasca Institute in Vobarno and Idro (around 100 participants) will read and evaluate the books presented in the Review, posing questions to the authors during the presentations.

Prominent literary figures and in-depth discussions

The event will host authors of national and international renown, with free afternoon and evening meetings, including:

• May 1 at 7:00 PM – Marino Bartoletti

• May 2 at 6:30 PM – Giovanni Grasso and Maurizio De Giovanni

• May 3 at 7:00 PM – Stefano Massini

• May 4 at 11:00 AM – Gianfranco Pasquino

• May 4 at 5:30 PM – Giorgio Scianna

A special event will be the conference on the morning of May 4, dedicated to The Eighty Years of Italian Democracy (1945-2025), featuring experts and authors from various backgrounds who will analyze the political and social evolution of the country.

On May 1 at 8:30 PM, the evening will be opened by the Coro La Faita, directed by Maestro Valerio Bertolotti, while throughout all four days, initiatives organized by associations active in sports, culture, social issues, and volunteering will take place.
