A serious incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, March 8, in Volta Mantovana, where a drunk driver hit a motorcyclist, causing him to fall and dragging him for several meters before fleeing the scene. The individual involved in the incident, a 67-year-old man of Brazilian origin residing in the area, struck a 44-year-old man riding his motorcycle on Via 1° Maggio. Despite the collision, the driver did not stop to assist the motorcyclist, who was later transported to Poma Hospital in Mantova in critical condition.
Thanks to the prompt intervention of the Local Police of the Colli Mantovani Union, the driver was located shortly after the incident. After undergoing a breathalyzer test, it was confirmed that he was indeed driving under the influence. He now faces charges of serious injury, driving while intoxicated, and failure to assist, along with the suspension of his driver’s license and the seizure of the vehicle involved, a Fiat Panda. Fortunately, according to the latest reports, the motorcyclist is not in life-threatening condition.
