This afternoon, the sluice gates of the Adige-Garda Diversion Gallery were opened in an alternating manner to check the functionality of the mechanical and electronic components. The operations, scheduled from 1 PM to 5 PM, are being monitored by the Provincial Agency for Environmental Protection (Appa), which oversees the water quality of the Adige River and Lake Garda. This maneuver takes place in a context where the lake level has exceeded +142 cm above the hydrometric zero due to recent rainfall.

The Autonomous Province of Trento, responsible for managing the facility, has announced that approximately 340,000 cubic meters of water will be released into Lake Garda, with an average flow rate of 25 m³/s and a maximum of 100 m³/s. This operation is essential to ensure the hydraulic safety of southern Trentino and the city of Verona, helping to reduce the risk of flooding in the Adige River during extreme weather events. The diversion has been utilized thirteen times since the 1960s, with the last opening occurring on October 31, 2023. In recent days, technicians have also removed the muddy material accumulated in the inlet basin at Mori before proceeding with the necessary maneuvers.
