In Peschiera del Garda, the Gardesana Servizi Company (AGS) has initiated a significant intervention for environmental protection, involving the upgrade of the overflow sewer located on Lungomincio Bonomi. This initiative, with a total investment of €273,000, is part of a broader project aimed at complying with environmental regulations and the regional plan for improving mixed sewer networks.
### Details of the Intervention
The president of AGS, Angelo Cresco, emphasized the importance of this upgrade: “The compliance of overflow sewers is undoubtedly significant for environmental protection and territorial safeguarding.” This intervention is crucial for ensuring sustainable water management and reducing the environmental impact resulting from intense meteorological events.
The overflow in question manages mixed waters coming from various surrounding areas, including Cavalcaselle and Mandella. To optimize the operation of the facility, planned works include reshaping the incoming pipe through the replacement of the current tubing.

### Technological Innovations
The project also includes the creation of a new structure equipped with an advanced system for treating overflow water. This technology is designed to retain suspended solids during heavy rainfall. Additionally, a bypass will be implemented to facilitate maintenance operations, both routine and extraordinary.
Carlo Alberto Voi, the general director of AGS, highlighted that “the project’s primary goal is to provide a definitive solution to long-standing issues regarding the actual quality and quantity of water discharged into the Mincio River.” The new structure will feature an innovative self-cleaning screw screen system that allows for efficient management of overflow water.
### Timeline and Conclusion of Works
The works will involve the demolition of existing old structures and the construction of a new underground facility to house updated electromechanical equipment. All connected hydraulic pipes will be replaced, and a new bypass pipe will be constructed to ensure safe operations.
To further enhance environmental protection, a sedimentation compartment will be added upstream of the overflow, designed to capture coarser materials. The works are scheduled to be completed before the start of summer, thus contributing to the environmental protection of the area surrounding the lake.
