Agriturismo Seradel Hosts Annual Lunch Connecting Children and Elders
Special Lunch at Agriturismo Seradel in Padenghe: more than one hundred nursery school children from the town happily accompanied the elderly residents of the retirement home, all invited to spend a different day, even if less “quiet” than usual.
This year as well, the tradition that brings together the children of today and yesterday around decorated tables has been renewed. The first invitation was launched 17 years ago by the innkeeper, Lucio Maraggi, and since then, every year at the beginning of summer, this highly anticipated event has been renewed, especially loved by the residents of the home.
The meaning of the day
“It’s a festival that warms the heart,” explains Mrs. Eleonora, slightly emotional. “For us, it’s one of the most beautiful days of the year; seeing nearly fifty grandmothers and grandfathers accompanied and supported by those extraordinary people who work at the retirement home, together with the nursery school teachers and their almost one hundred children, is a wonderful moment that all of us here at Seradel are proud to experience…”
At noon, lunch begins: children on one side, grandparents on the other. The menu includes pasta, soups, grilled meat, and specialties from the inn, followed by singing and dancing. The children enjoy races and games in the beautiful park overlooking the lake.
The day of celebration and solidarity
It is a day of celebration, a pleasant act of solidarity that is renewed year after year in memory of Lucio Maraggi, who passed away four years ago but remains always present in everyone’s memory.
