Aido Lazise Celebrates Six Years with Life Festival Honoring Donor Simone

Everyone together to celebrate life and to “help” life. This is the proposal of friends from Aido, the Associazione dei donatori di organi di Lazise, on the sixth anniversary of its founding. It has been six years since Simone Gelmetti, the young donor after whom the Lazise section is named, donated all his organs while still intact and usable to “give” life to other people in need of a transplant. Simone Gelmetti will be remembered on Sunday with the “Festival of Life” in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.

Festival Program

The event features a rich program: at 10:45 a.m., a procession with banners to the parish church led by the Castelnuovo del Garda band; at 11 a.m., a solemn concelebration with the participation of the Schola Cantorum and Father Locatelli, the first priest to undergo a heart transplant, will officiate the sacred rite. This will be followed by the blessing of the new banner; at 12 noon, a concert in the square by the marching band, and finally refreshments for members, friends, or supporters of the organ donor association.

Message of Hope

“Plant your enthusiasm, your faith, and your love. Sow and trust”, explains Imelda Squarzoni, president of Aido, “and every seed will enrich a small corner of the earth. Only through daily sowing can you grow the desire to donate, because a gesture of solidarity can also come from someone who remains a stranger”.
