Alpini’s Traveling Banner Celebrates Centenary in Moniga del Garda

From Wednesday, May 20, the itinerant Vessillo Sezionale Itinerante of the Alpini section Monte Suello will visit Moniga del Garda as part of the centenary celebrations. The banner, which departed from Desenzano, is due to arrive in Moniga at 7:00 p.m. and will be welcomed with honors at the Monumento all’Alpino in Piazza Combattenti. The Moniga Alpini Group will host a reception for attendees at its headquarters.

On Thursday, May 21, at 9:00 p.m., a special event in collaboration with the Municipal Administration will take place at the Church of Madonna della Neve: a theatre reading titled “Voci Alpine,” inspired by Giovanni Lugaresi’s Alpini di pace. Narrator Francesca Beni will recount contemporary stories of Alpini in peacetime, accompanied by a vocal quartet performing traditional songs. The evening aims to celebrate and thank the Alpini of yesterday, with emphasis on the local Monte Suello section, and to reaffirm the Moniga Alpini’s commitment to current challenges.

Friday morning, May 22, Alpini members will visit primary schools in Moniga and Soiano to engage with pupils and transmit the association’s values through activities including a hike to Rifugio Campei de Sima. Marco Posenato, head of the Moniga Alpini, said the banner will be carried among the students to convey the group’s values. In the evening, the itinerant Vessillo will be handed over to the Alpini of Manerba. Posenato also thanked the Municipal Administration for its ongoing support and Don Giovanni Berti for hospitality at the Church of Madonna della Neve.
