The service for disposing of palm tree trunks infected with Paysandisia anchor will continue from May 6th at the collection center in Nago, in the Mala area. After the closure of the collection point in Ceole, households will be able to dispose of infested palm tree trunks at the Nago collection center, up to a maximum of about two cubic meters per day. The palm foliage can be disposed of at other collection centers. The service will remain active until August 31st.

The palm castnide is a South American lepidopteran that has infested the Alto Garda, causing damage to palm trees. A working group has been established to coordinate efforts to combat this emergency, involving the valley community, the affected municipalities, the Province, and the Edmund Mach Foundation.

To contain the damage caused by the palm castnide, phytosanitary treatments can be carried out on the still healthy plants. For compromised plants, the only solution is to cut and dispose of the trunk.

These measures are necessary to limit the spread of the lepidopteran and ensure the preservation of healthy plants. The goal is to reduce the damage caused by this emergency, which is altering the landscape of Alto Garda.
